This intervention occurred before the flawed proposals could reach mainnet status, ensuring that the core XRP Ledger infrastructure remained secure against the identified authorization risks.
The critical vulnerability resided within the initial Batch amendment, which contained an authorization flaw that could have enabled an attacker to execute inner transactions for arbitrary victim accounts without possessing their private keys. Such exploitation would have permitted unauthorized payments and unauthorized ledger changes. By identifying this structural weakness, validators prevented the execution of malicious inner transactions that could have compromised account integrity across the network.
Woofun AI data shows that amendment activation requires compatible code deployment and sustained support above 80% of trusted validators for two weeks, a threshold the flawed proposals failed to meet. On Aug. 1, the validated mainnet Amendments object at ledger 105,997,300 contained no field for pending amendments, confirming that no two-week clock was active and subthreshold support remained undisclosed. Consequently, the majority threshold was never crossed, leaving the exact level of validator opposition unrecorded in the ledger object.
